Scouting in Yalding

Yalding Scout Group

Yalding Scout Group, founded on the 24th June 1960, has been a cornerstone of the local scouting community for over six decades.

Situated within the Maidstone West Scout District and part of the wider Kent Scout County, it has established itself as a unique and vital part of the area’s scouting tradition.

While Maidstone West District is home to 10 scout groups, we stand out as the only Sea Scout Group, offering a distinctive programme focused on water-based activities.

The group is located in Yalding, a picturesque village nestled between the River Medway and the River Beult. This location offers an ideal setting for the group’s signature activities, including kayaking, canoeing, and bodyboarding, making it a standout in the District.

The group caters to young people aged 6 to 14 across three sections: Beavers (ages 6-8), Cubs (ages 8-10), and Scouts (ages 10-14).

With a rich history and a continued commitment to adventure and skill development, Yalding Scout Group remains a cherished part of the local community and village life, providing a space for young people to grow, learn, and connect with nature in a fun and meaningful way.
